Mannequin Challenge

Today we held mannequin challenges.  This is when people freeze in a position and someone moves around videoing them.  We had a lot of fun working together, listening to each others ideas and creating an overall theme for our videos.  Our greatest challenge was not to laugh!  Below is a video which is absolutely NOT a normal day on our playground for room 6.

Pac the Police Dog

Our topic this term is on Amazing Animals.  We had a visit from Pac the police dog, Constable Damian O'Kane and Jess.  They talked to us about Pac and showed us how clever he is.  Room 6 are learning to take notes, so we used this opportunity to practise our note taking and then summarise our notes in the format of an information report.  Check out the photos and Blake's report.

Kawa of Care

The Kawa of Care is so important throughout our class on a daily basis.
Due to having some new students join our classroom at the beginning of this
term we have revisited the importance of the Kawa of Care.

We are constantly learning about the 'Kawa of Care' so that we can act in
Cybersmart ways with our Chromebooks and when we are learning online. The children choose three instructions from the 'Kawa of Care' agreement and created a super hero comic strip using the three instructions, to teach others about the Kawa of Care.

Here are a couple of examples of the children's work... Check out their personal blogs too.

Train Safety

We came up with some rules for when you're around trains.  We needed to create a video to explain at least one of the rules.  Here is a video one group made and Ella edited.

Wheels Week

To help the school learn all the road safety messages this week we have brought our 'wheels' to school and being riding around 'Wheel Town', designed by Room 6.  Every child has a license and will receive demerit points if caught disobeying the road signs.

Harrison is holding the 'GO' sign.    Lily has traffic stopped for a train.   Zoe & Mackley at the top are slowing down around the bend and Police Office Alex is looking out for trouble with his stop sign!

Train Safety

Our whole school has a focus on Road Safety this week.  Our class are focussing on safety around trains.  We have viewed lots of information, such as songs, posters, websites and video clips to learn about how to be safe around trains.  We each came up with 5 rules.  Here is Alex's poster:

School Kit 'Walking with an ANZAC'

Room 6 explored the School Kit 'Walking with an ANZAC' today.  We were intrigued by how authentic they have made the reproductions of the items and are excited to begin discovering the story behind each item.

ANZAC Posters

In Room Six we have begun our topic on ANZAC day.  We already know varying amounts about ANZAC day, but the junior classes don't know much!  We have created interactive posters to share with our juniors to help them learn.  Take a look at Liam's and Harrisons' below.
