Our Digestive System

Our Digestive System

We have been learning about our digestive systems after a visit from Harold.  Today we were able to dissect some of the organs from a pigs digestive system.  A pigs digestive system is very similar to a humans.

  1. Kia Ora Room 6. I admire the fact that you all had the stomach to do this! I certainly don’t. How come Harold lets you do that kind of stuff? I don’t think we ever got to do something that exciting. Did you learn anything from it that really surprised you?

  2. Kia ora Awahono school Room 6,
I really like that you guys got to see what a pig’s insides look like, if I were there I’d stay as far away as possible. I wonder what they would look like up a bit closer? Maybe take a few more pictures so people can have a really good look. How did it smell? It must’ve smelt really bad and also how is a pig's digestive system similar to a humans? If you want you guys can come have a look at my blog and what I have done,https://leah1218.blogspot.co.nz/ Sincerely, Leah from Parkview school.

  3. Hola Room 6, my name is Luke and I'm from Parkview school in Christchurch.
Dissecting a pig must have been a mix of “disgusting, Eww and cool” and I bet it smelt pretty gross. I like how you said a pig’s organs are like our organs and displayed a picture showing what it looked like. What did it smell like? How long did it take to dissect the pig? What was it like to feel/hold?

  4. Hi room 6,
I think that it is so cool that you were able to look into a pig's digestive system! Did you know what all of the parts were called? Did anyone faint because of the pig’s body parts? Also, how come you looked into a pig's digestive system and not any other animal? Maybe next time Harold comes to your school you could look into other animals’ digestive systems and compare them and see the similarities and differences. Cool blog post! But next time, Have you researched how it reacts in different conditions? Was it soft and squishy, Or hard and rough?
    I enjoyed it a lot, Here’s a link to my blog, https://pvslucasl.blogspot.co.nz/.

  8. Kia Ora room six,
I am Jorja from the Senior Squad at Parkview School. I am very amazed with what you did. Was the digestive system smelly or gross? How many of you learned about the digestive system? You guys taught me about what the pig digestive system looks like and that it looks like the humans. Have you think about putting anymore information or a video on what sort of stuff that was in the digestive system. If you would like to see my learning blog, my learning blog is https://pvsjorjaj.blogspot.co.nz/
Kind regards Jorja from the Senior Squad at Parkview school.

  9. Hello Room 6, my name is Seb and I'm from Parkview School. I really love how you got to take apart that pig and also how you showed a detailed picture of it so we can actually see what's going on. How many kids got to do it? How many pigs did you dissect? I have never got to do that but I would like to try it. If you would like to see my learning here's my blog https://pvssebs.blogspot.co.nz/

  10. Hello Room 6, my name is Ryan and I’m a student from Parkview School. I really like the way that you got to dissect that pig to see how it all works. I think it's really cool to do something like that. Before you cut up the pig, did you guys have to take all of the skin off or did it come like that? 12. Top of the morning to you Room 6. I’m Logan from Parkview School. I really like the fact that you are learning about our, well technically a pig’s, digestive system. It made me think of this game called Surgeon Simulator that I have played in the past. Have you thought about dissecting a chicken or a cow’s digestive system? And did it feel gross? If you want to see my blog it is http://pvsloganl.blogspot.co.nz/2017/03/welcome.html

  13. Ki Ora room 6@ Awahono School,
I think it is really cool that you have been able to look and see what a human and a pig's digestive system looks like. This reminded me of when I got to learn about the digestive system. Have you thought about adding some writing from the students and their perspective, also here are some questions. Was it fun looking at the digestive system? Did anyone get a bad feeling? And did anyone love learning about digestive systems? If you would like to see my learning, my blog is https://pvsnegusa.blogspot.co.nz.
