Over the last 2 weeks we have been writing positive words to describe each other.  We used these words to make some word art.  Here are some examples of what we created.

ASB Get Wise

We had a visitor from the 'ASB Get Wise' programme come and teach us about financial literacy.  We learned about the concept of earning, spending wisely and saving.
We played a game where our stick figures went on holiday to Fiji.  We needed to make decisions about how to pay for things like accomodation and tickets, choosing to either use cash or credit card.  We also needed to decide which deal would be the best.
We found it quite stressful at times, but enjoyed it!  We learned to ask lots of questions and research the deals.

Pet Day 2018

We recently held our annual pet day.  Each child completes a pet project on one of their pets or a pet they would love to own.  On the day pets are brought along to be judged, and the students participate in workshops.  The winners of each category receive amazing prizes from our wonderful sponsors, thank you!
This is Mia's information report on her horse, which was part of her pet project.  She also completed an outstanding poster too.

Fair Go Ad Awards

In room 6 we participated in the Fair Go Ad Awards.  We chose a special place and designed a video about why the place is special to us.  We needed to make sure our message was clear, and it could only be 30 seconds long.  Here is an example from one of the groups.
Next time we need to make sure we plan the videos in detail before filming.

El Gregoe

Today we were privileged to have El Gregoe back at our school for another entertaining show.  He impressed us with his magic and ventriloquism.  El Gregoe's message to us all was to treat others how we wish to be treated.

Spelling Relay

We got outside and enjoyed the sun!  In relay teams each member had to run down to the other end of the court and look at their spelling list.  Then they ran back and wrote the word down correctly before handing the pen over to the next runner.  The winning team had the most words recorded after 5 minutes.

Avatar Art

Year 6 have joined our class this term so we created some new artwork of our whole class.  We used 'Cartoonify' to make avatars of ourselves.  Using the avatars as a reference we enlarged the image onto A2 paper.  We used vivids for the outlines and painted them.  Do you recognise any of them?

Posted Splashzone

Posted Splash Zone

In class we are reading a book named 'Posted' by John David Anderson. Here is my splash zone drawing. The Splash zone is in the olden days before special effects come to be, they got an animals bladder full of  animal blood and hid it under their clothes.  During a fighting scene it would be punctured. Here is my drawing.
